What it knows

If you text the bell, exactly two things exist about you:

• Your phone number, because you texted it
• Which water you asked for, because you named it

If you dive and text back a verdict — REEF, BUDDY, FINS — the bell keeps the verdict and the morning it applied to, with no number attached to it. That is how it learns its water without learning you.

Where it lives

Phone numbers live only in the message history of our telephone provider (Twilio), which is how the bell knows who to ring. They are never written into the project’s files.

The project’s code and data are public — anyone can read every line at any time. A phone number in there would be a phone number the whole world could read. So there are none. That is the strongest privacy promise we can make: not a policy, an architecture.

What it never does

• Never sells, rents, or shares your number with anyone
• Never sends marketing — only the conditions you asked for
• No advertising, no third-party analytics, no tracking pixels, no cookies
• No location access. The bell knows the water you named, not where you are

Getting forgotten

Reply STOP to any message. Messages end immediately and your number stops being part of the list. To have the message history itself deleted, ask through the project’s public issues and it will be removed from the provider.

The website

thedivebell.com is a static site on GitHub Pages. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. GitHub may log requests as any web host does — see their privacy statement.

Children

The service is not directed to anyone under 13, and no such use is knowingly permitted.
